‘Trombonism’ – Nick Mills Trombone Quintet

At Twickenham Jazz Club's Stage

Trombones: Nick Mills, Andy Flaxman, Tom Dunnett, Chris Lowe, Bruce Douglas

Rhythm Section: Jim Treweek – Piano, Andy Hamill – Double Bass, Dave Tandy – Drums

Excitement is mounting at Twickenham Jazz Club as Nick Mills, a Stella Rhythm section and an A list of British Trombonists come together to share their passion for the dexterous, intimate soul of the Trombone.

Credited for being the instrument that is closest to the human voice, the unique slide action enables musicians to create beautiful, rich layers of colour and possibilities. It is simply a fabulous sound.

Five Trombone bands were very popular from the 1940′ and 50’s and wonderful charts were written that are rarely explored today.

Think of Henry Mancini, Bob Florence, Neil Hefti, Bebop, Latin and Music from The West and East Coast.

Add a subtle dusting of tunes from The Great American Songbook, new arrangements written by band members and the natural humour and camaraderie of these brilliant musicians and we all enjoy another memorable and heart-warming musical evening.

Nick Mills

Endlessly busy, incredibly popular and loved by audiences, Nick is one of our finest exponents of his beloved instrument ‘The Trombone.’

Cited as the musical instrument closest to the human voice in expression and resolves, few master the art as well as he does.
