Hetty Kate: Swinging Vintage Jazz & A Benefit Concert for Anita Wardell with special guest Nigel Price on Guitar

At Twickenham Jazz Club's Stage

Hetty Kate – A glorious evening of Swinging Vintage Jazz & A Benefit Concert for Anita Wardell

This will be an amazing evening featuring a stunning and versatile vocalist who is rarely seen in the UK. Her performance will strike at the beating heart of the jazz community. Expect a program of natural swing, heartfelt ballads, and sizzling, sensual bossas.

Hetty Kate

Charismatic and technically gifted, described as “a genuine entertainer” – (All About Jazz USA).

Having been raised in both England and Australia and currently residing in Paris, Hetty boasts a discography of nine albums and a performance history spanning from New Zealand to the USA. Securing her presence at our club has been a long-held aspiration of mine. Her international performances include venues across France, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic, England, Ireland, Italy, India, Russia, Austria, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Chile, among others. Notable among her appearances are festivals such as the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), Malta International Jazz Festival, Sapporo International Jazz Festival (Japan), Prague Proms (Czech Republic), Cavill Leitch New Zealand International Jazz Festival, Mithra Jazz à Liège (Belgium), Ernen Musikdorf Festival (Switzerland), and numerous others.

Anita Wardell

Our dear friend Anita Wardell is acknowledged as one of the most talented and influential jazz vocalists of her generation. Among her audiences, you will always spot new and experienced jazz vocalists fascinated by her artistry and originality.

Anita was due to sing for us but recently suffered a devastating stroke while on stage near London on March 22nd, 2024.

The prompt actions of her band saved her life. Anita was rushed to the hospital. Her recovery is positive but slow and yet another testament to the amazing strength of her character.

Anita’s band will be playing for us, and the proceeds will be donated to support her during her recovery.

*** Please note that for the first time at our club, seating will be in theatre style, and we ask diners to eat in the main bar before the performance. ***

If you cannot join us but would like to make a donation to Anita’s crowdfunding page, the link is: https://gofund.me/b8407447
