Twickenham Jazz Club's Past Gigs

“The Gerry Mulligan Legacy” with Geoff Mason’s Band

Blowing life into the new year we were very proud to open our 2024 season of Jazz by introducing a new band led by trombonist Geoff Mason presenting ‘The Gerry Mulligan Legacy’.

One of the great advantages of running Twickenham Jazz Club for so many years is recognising and promoting long term talent and connections within the London Jazz community. ‘How do you find these bands?’ people often ask. Well I have simply known them for years and they are not only great musicians but my friends too.

Gerry Mulligan

A formidable and original talent Gerry Mulligan is probably one of the greatest and famous Jazz Baritone players of all time. He continues to influence and inspire musicians today including Mick Foster who is playing for us tonight as the acknowledged exponent of his work.

He shared some of Mulligan’s brilliant arrangements of some of the great Jazz standards and also to experience some of his lesser known original compositions with a gentle nod towards Gerry’s time with trombonist Bob Brookmeyer.

Geoff Mason

Lovable Geoff Mason is a highly respected and prolific musician known for his enthusiasm, dexterity and beautiful rich tone. He has been featured on BBC 2’s Best of Jazz. Jazz FM Geoff is an experienced session musician and performed in many venues from from cruise ships, Jazz festivals, Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and now also Twickenham Jazz Club.

With John Horler on Keys, Tin Wells on Double Bass and Bobby Worth on Drums this was a night of classic Jazz played by some of our Nation’s finest.

Geoff Mason is a Rath Artist for Rath Trombone.
