Welcome back to Twickenham Jazz Club’s Autumn Season!
We sincerely hope that you had a wonderful summer break and are ready to come and enjoy some fabulous music, friendship and hospitality as ‘The Autumn Leaves Start To Fall’.
Our opening night features our endlessly popular in-house band “The Martin Nickless All-Star Jazz Tentett.”Â
This amazing band has been an integral part of the relaunch of our club and always creates a brilliant heartwarming atmosphere as it features some of our finest and most experienced Jazz musicians united in their common passion for authentic 1950s Pacific Jazz.
West Coast Jazz
The music evolved and developed largely in the 1950s on the West Coast of America and relies on composition and arrangements rather than improvisation.
Think Sun, surf and a more relaxed and formal style than standard Be Bop. Think of Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers and the Giants, Shelly Manne, Benny Goldson, Stanley Turrentine and many more. Think… it’s about time we had a good night out and enjoyed some awesome music and a cool glass of wine or beer (non-alcoholic if you wish !) and food (optional)
Martin Nickless
Martin Nickless is an internationally respected musician. He is a senior clarinettist, saxophonist, composer and arranger for many projects including the BBC’s New Artist programme American Big Bands and beyond.
Martin’s discography includes both playing and arranging for the Chris Barber Big band, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Glen Miller UK and many more. Some of the arrangements to be performed have been written by Martin himself, it is an area in which Martin is a recognised expert and excels and there are new scores in the pad. They capture the era of Clifford Brown, Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, and Bob Florence. The solos will be stunning.
He and his Stellar cast of Ten brilliant musicians are chomping at their mouthpieces (and other instruments) to thrill, relax, entertain and delight us on Wednesday Night and truly relaunch our fabulous new season.
