Roll Up Roll Up Roll Up and join us for the last concert of our Summer season
Martin Nickless All-Star Jazz Tentett, Lesley’s Birthday, and Twickenham Jazz Clubs Summer Celebration
This completely awesome band features some of our finest and most experienced Jazz musicians united in their common passion for authentic 1950s Pacific Jazz.
West Coast Jazz
The music evolved and developed largely in the 1950s on the West Coast of America and relies on composition and arrangements rather than improvisation.
Think Sun, surf and a more relaxed and formal style than standard Be Bop. Think of Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers and the Giants, Shelly Manne, Benny Goldson, Stanley Turrentine and many more. Think feeling chilled and happy in the cool intimacy of our air-conditioned Patchworks Bar while the music washes over you and you enjoy a chilled glass of wine or beer (non-alcoholic if you wish !) and food from the Cabbage Patch Chef. (optional)
Some of the arrangements to be performed have been passionately written by Martin himself, there are some new scores in the pad and it is an area in which Martin is a recognised expert and excels. They capture the era of Clifford Brown, Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, and Bob Florence. The solos will be stunning.
