Having collaborated with some of the finest musicians in Britain and beyond, Sandy is the regular bassist for acclaimed ensembles such as Blue Harlem, the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra, and the Peter Rudeforth Sextet. Notably, he graces the stage most Friday evenings as part of the house band at London’s Chelsea Arts Club. Every summer, Sandy dives into an intensive week of chamber music performance at the Burton Bradstock Festival.
Sandy’s exceptional musicality has earned him accolades, with the Oxford Jazz Festival hailing him as “one of Britain’s most respected musicians on the jazz and classical music scenes.” His talents extend beyond traditional jazz settings, as his playing was featured in the National Theatre’s praised revival of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom in 2016.
Recognised for his improvisational prowess, Sandy’s skills as an improvising bassist have led to collaborations with LSO Discovery for their Activate and Create projects.
